A website is a collection of web pages that are linked together and used as a communication tool. With our new design methodology, profile-driven design (PDD) we are enabling a communication tool that is adaptable, intuitive, and data driven.

As a designer, your role shifts and encompasses both the graphic design as well as the data design. Fear not, this doesn’t require any code or complex data manipulation, leave that to the developers. Profile-driven design for Uniweb CMS templates

When it comes to designing a website based on profiles there are a few things that are different compared to regular design:

This section aims to introduce you to the fundamental ideas behind PDD by explaining the data paths, exception planning, defining clear rules, and other profile-driven design elements.

🗺️Think about the viewer's path

The viewer's path is crucial and having a good idea of where people will go on the website makes it easier to think about the content the website should serve them to keep them on the website for longer.

🗃️Filter options, defining ranks for content, and more

For researchers with lots of projects, publications, and everything else, filtering, sorting, and searching are imperative. This section explains how to properly define these filters while also talking about how to assign ranks for suggested content.

🖌️The design process

This section covers all the steps during your design process. Starting with selecting the data, moving to the design, followed by testing, and finally identifying all your paths, rules, and other options.

Uniweb Launchpad is the tool you'll use to customize the profile and add sections that can help with your template design. This section tells you how and the best practices to follow
